So I have this WiFi 6 router from my ISP with 5gb internet, 1gb wireless down 700 up (I actually get up to 1.3gb down from tests sometimes but whatever that’s what the provider says). I attached a google WiFi nest router to it, which gives me speeds of 600-800, which is lower than the ISP router but still fine by me. These are all tests I take from my iPhone standing right next to the two routers. (Note this is the only nest router in the house)
Next. I have a cabled (base product) Google WiFi point on the second floor which gives me speeds of 400-500 up/down. This does not match the speeds of the routers but still fine by me up to here. (Suggestions here are still appreciated)
So here is where I would like more improvements. Down the hall, back to the main floor, I have another google WiFi point, this time a wireless one, no cable (which I could put eventually). This point gives me 100-200 mbps down. If I were to cable it I assume it would give 400-500 like the one upstairs.
Next, further down the house, beyond the hall getting always further away from the main router, there are two more google access points, all wireless, in two bedrooms. These give me speeds of 50-100 mbps and the latency is quite higher. From 4ms from the main router, the latency here is >20ms. These two points would be very hard to wire to the main router. Bear in mind this is an old house 250msq with thick walls.
My thoughts were to swap the google access point in the hall with a cabled nest WiFi router so it would give speeds of presumably 600-800mbps like the other router, and then it would wireless boost the connection to the other two google points in the bedrooms.
I’ve been doing a lot of research but Im just not comfortable with all the technical specifications and configurations everyone talks about so I thought asking here might help.
I guess the final question is: how do I exploit my internet speeds to the max and how do I do it inexpensively.
