Generational names like the greatest, boomer, gen x, millennial, gen z were created so that companies know how to market to you. Get ready for a whole lot of marketing to you for payday loans, low interest credit cards and other kinds of financial scams, because they now have put you in that category. I’m sorry you have to work so much, it doesn’t help anyone that you’re not paid a living wage except the ones marketing to you.

Gen X didn’t care about a name so they left it as X. We were like, whatever. Advertisers hated my generation and still do. We just don’t care.

It’s not that Gen X didn’t care, it was that no one else cared. You do have a name, it’s the Forgotten Generation.
“Generation X often is referred to as the forgotten generation, sandwiched between the large and culturally powerful Baby Boomer and Millennial generations.”

Advertisers do not hate Gen x. They do not care about Gen x. The name just makes it easier to target by demographic. Gen x is as marketable as any other generation.

They marketed to Gex X when we went through our life stages but yeah, you’re right on everything else. They fucked up though, we see it for what it is and we can let the other generations know. My uncle, who is awesome and a boomer, just figured out they’re not being marketed to anymore, and he was a little in shock, lol.
