Ronaldo took a jab at Messi’s by liking and commenting laughing emoticons on Instagram post by a Madrid journalist who was disrespecting messi for his 8th ballon d’or and how he was not a best player of tournament because of 5 penalties. For me that shows insecurity and hypocrisy of Ronaldo. And on other hand for Messi’s ballon d’or he was selected by majority of journalists, players and managers. So if they have chosen it then what could be done? It’s nearly impossible ballon d’or organizers will bribe them or something like that and the award criteria have been same over the years so either all awards (let’s say) from 2010 are unfair or are fair for all, there is nothing like they are unfair for two years and when Lewandowski gets they are fair. From the start international achievements played important role in getting ballon d’or so what’s the problem?

He’s understandably pissed off, but it’s best to not react publicly, as the perception is he’s being petty.

The voting system of the Ballon D’or is flawed, but Ronaldo should be above it- he’s one of the greatest of all time, and doesn’t need to give a shit about it. His achievements should stand for themselves, forget “chasing” Messi.

The voting system of the Ballon D’or is flawed

There is very little chance of that. The votes are cast by the best journalists from 100 countries. By definition, it is diversified and democratic, and could not be flawed. The best player of the world wins this award, and whoever doesn’t agree simply starts questioning the system.

His achievements should stand for themselves, forget “chasing” Messi.

Ronaldo’s achievements definitely make him one of the best players of this generation. But even after achieving all this, he cannot live peacefully if he chases Messi. He should simply concede to the fact that Messi is the greatest player football has and probably will ever produce, and being compared to him is not possible. What he has achieved is special as well, and he should be proud of it.

Check Quique Wolff’s vote and tell me it isn’t flawed. Lisandro Martínez didn’t have a better season than Haaland.

The “best” journalists voting means nothing if they’re biased and aren’t objective when they vote.

Or what about Portugal? They put Bernardo Silva and Vinicius before Mbappé, Haaland and Messi.

Of course the system is flawed.

However, this has nothing to do with Ronaldo being a petty child. That has always been the case with him.
