It probably gets 95% of the calls right. FIFA says 99.3% but I don’t think so. Still, if it didn’t exist everyone would be crying to implement technology like they did before. Think of all the goals/no goals that have been rightfully overturned. Even if there are some horrible calls sometimes, the good calls outweigh the bad ones.
It was fine to start with, it seemed pretty consistent although boring with goals being ruled.out for having a toe offside 40 yards away from goal. (That’s fixed by listening to Wenger’s recommendation if a pet of the player is onside, then they are onside)
However this season we are seeing subjective and wildly inconsistent decisions being made. There are clearly.teams who have benefited from dodgy var more and teams that have frankly had the entire dynamic of Their season so far tainted by key, incorrect decisions going against them - and seeing the same decisions not given or even reviewed in other matches.
Offsides, violent conduct and penalty calls is all it should be used for and those rules cleared up to push consistency of interpretation across the referees.
