    1.4… agree completely. Rice as an 8 will not work unless he becomes a more progressive passer / better in the final 3rd… QUICKLY or we get a more progressive Partey like 6 to put behind him… so we need another LCM.

    1. You’re wrong here, Raya is comfortable enough to do it and he’s succeeding. City game is a perfect example, we were in hell with City’s press for the first 35 mins and he continued to play out the back… takes huge balls to do it which he has. Arteta didn’t NOT trust Ramsdale… Ramsdale refused to do it and would rather hoof it clear under pressure (he’s literally said this himself) … he lost his job on his own. No chance we win that City game in the prem with Ramsdale in goal the way they were pressing

      You make fair points but Raya still struggles to play from the back at the level that Arteta seems to expect. Often, his passes leave the recipient of the pass in kind of a diffiuclt situation. I think he is very happy to get rid of the ball and very happy to count on players like Saliba, White, Zinchenko or Rice, who can dig themselves out of a difficult situation under pressure.

      Also, you’re probably right about Ramsdale refusin to do so, but a lot of things indicate that Arteta was happy to keep him as the number 1 GK. He just signed a new contract with improved wages and Arsenal didnt move for Raya until late in the window and they had to find a loan deal because of FFP. They didnt plan this, it was an opportunity and they took it, quite brilliantly has to be said. But all in all, Arteta hadnt decided that he had to replace Ramsdale, at least not for this season.
