I think Zidane is a bit overrated as a through ball passer. He could definitely switch to the other flank and he was the main organizer, but he wasn’t constantly looking for the pass between the lines.
On the other hand Xavi, was amazing at dissecting the defense. Also Riquelme and Valderrama.
