Honestly I don’t know what’s going on in the USA. You’re so proud of your “democracy and freedom” yet one of your 2 political parties is able to effectively dismantle the entire thing in less than a decade. You’re now one election away from being a christofascist state.

…and yet you’re all just going to work tomorrow. You’re all doing pretty much nothing except “make sure you vote in 2024.” So I guess every 4 years you’re going to be one election away from a literal Nazi takeover?

I don’t know. Riot or something. I have no idea how you’re all coping so hard.

I’m confused. Does the fall of Roe, book bans, banning of trans care, the fact that the speaker of the house wants the Bible to be taught as an historical text, project 2025, the radicalization of the Republican party, Trump running again, and so much more not mean anything to you?

I’m not the top level commenter. I can say that all of those things suck ass and I would be personally impacted by several of them (roe, trans care)… if I lived in a red state. Yes, I live in a certain amount of fear that the next Republican president might make significant strides towards national policies that could reach me even in my very blue state. Yes, I have a huge amount of sympathy for everyone who does live in a red or swing state. But top level commenter has a point that, right now, I’m not directly, personally impacted by these things. And idk where OP is from but it’s a good wager that their country also has some shit they need to pull together, and I don’t find their concern trolling productive or supportive. Lemmy already leans politically left; how is our domestic policy their business and what do they hope to accomplish here?

It means a lot to me. That’s why I’m involved in local elections, have been to many protests, volunteer to teach code to kids, and do what I can to spread awareness of my concerns for future elections.

But both you and OP are too busy criticizing people for their apparent lack of action that you can’t be bothered to make a post that’s actually helpful.
