My take on the mid-terms.

    I feel like a broken record with this, but it needs to be said: While a lot of GOP have been kicked out, state initiatives to allow trans girls to play with their cis counterparts were repealed. Washington state was one such state. It also weakened school “confidentiality” in regards to students, forcing them to out potential LGTBQ students to their parents. The most annoying part of the sports initiative, however, is that it only applies to trans girls. Trans boys can play with cis boys without hoops, according to the text of the initiatives.

      Colorado banned gender affirming surgery for minors and required that children play only on scholastic teams that match their gender as defined by their sexual organs, set up life in prison for trading something of monetary value to have sex with a minor, and shipping people off to adult timeout for 8 years for having any amount of fent regardless of reason.

      Progressive candidate wins across the ballot, but simultaneously passing regressive policies via ballot measures. That implies to me that this was solely a knee jerk reaction to Trump and not actually a deep seated progressive initiative that will last. What Dem’s need to do now is seize this opportunity as a mandate, eliminate the EC, establish independent redistricting commissions, ban private money in elections, set up public funding for races, etc. to construct a more equitable playing field for future elections. Meanwhile activists need to continue to work on messaging and figure out how to let people know that a trans kid wanting to play ball with their friend isn’t a threat and doesn’t require a mandatory genital inspection by the coach.

      2028 won’t be a shoe in, and it may even be harder than the midterms were for Dems as they fight against the American civic ignorance and misunderstanding of why the “blue wave” didn’t stop Trump doing bad things.

        What Dem’s need to do now

        is destroy capitalism and the empire, stop funding war and genocide and legislate absolute equality for EVERYONE. They will never do that because they are the pawl in the ratchet to fascism. That is what they were created to do, to vent off any revolutionary energy and dissipate it through the electoral system.

          I mean sure, but that won’t happen in 2 years. They can enact voter reforms that will enable future leaders to do that within 2 years, however.
