Second midterm exam opens in an hour, 35% of the grade. This class absolutely fucking sucks. Not to proverbially jerk myself off, but I sailed through Calculus I-III, Physics 1 and 2 with Calculus, Differential Equations, and Modern Physics with little to no skin off my back. I read physics books for fun and love exploring mathemamatical proofs and concepts. In a life where jobs and money were no object, I’d dual major in astrophysics and math in a heartbeat.
And a fucking economics course is gonna do me in (granted, it’s engineering economy, but same difference). Some pseudoscience that’s halfway bourgeois vibes-based garbage, a quarter statistics, and the rest rote calculations. God dammit. I hate it. 3 tests make up the entire grade for the course, and my first one fell directly on its face at a 72. Online course so I could cheat like everyone else and actually get a proper grade, but I also don’t wanna risk landing grad school or not over some stupid bullshit. Honorlock is spiritually Israeli, assuming it isn’t already financially affiliated in some way.
Praying to end the next year with >3.7 so I can be competitive enough to land into my reach institutions for graduation, but my 3.87 is gonna take a downturn this semester for sure. Oh well, C’s get degrees. Fuck me. I’ve never been itching for a shot or a cigarette more than now, and I’ve never smoked.
I do not go to college anymore (due to [content warning]… mental collapse), so I would not know your exact situation; however, I hope you can prevail.
engineering economy, sounds kinda bullsh–ty

often known as engineering finance, is the study of how to allocate resources to achieve a certain goal in the most effective way possible
One of the key concepts in the engineering economy is the time value of money…states the value of a given amount of money changes over time due to inflation and the opportunity cost of not investing the money elsewhere
so…“just invest in cripto and AI, bro!” would be a perfect response for your exams, comrade…
It’s really not bullshit, engineering finance is a common sight in ABET accredited engineering programs and it’s good to know to be a well rounded professional especially early in a career.
Frankly it sounds like OP is more inclined as a math or physics major rather than something like engineering. I’ve also done that exact gauntlet of foundational courses and had a much, much rougher time than OP, but when it all flips around and came time to apply the concepts, everything started to click.
Anyway just keep at it, OP. College is the best worst time of your life. It gets worse and harder from there but you get better at managing the misery and not being broke is nice.
I wish you luck, I almost finish my masters, so I understand your pain.
Well I wish you luck, I can’t exactly compare with your experiences but I feel for you. Post-secondary ed do be like that
Thanks, I got an 81, so not bad actually!
