Nothing prevents Gavin from mobilizing the CA National Guard to protect protestors, as far as I know.
Could partly be due to the moral ramifications of being the one to officially make the order to start American Civil War II by meeting an armed force with an armed force.
He should do it, though.
Two things:
- I am not 100% sure the civil war hasn’t already started.
- I will always blame Trump for it the same way Ukraine will always be Russia’s fault.
Whether it has begun or we’re in the proceeding stages doesn’t really matter but I agree, it is obvious the fault lies with this administration.
Unfortunately, the thing is, those with the ability to actually form a fighting force right now significant enough to launch an attack against the federal government have been in positions where they stand to lose a lot for a while now. Furthermore, if they’re not remorseless bastards corrupted by their power, they have to consider the unknowable escalation of violence that they would be calling for. Trump (read: Project 2025 conspirators) have access to the US military arsenal, at least for the time being, but I can’t see them losing anymore than an insignificant portion if it came down to it because of the loyalists in the military.
With all that being said, America has cancer, and we’re getting in the later stages. It is going to kill us if we don’t do anything, but it’s so spread that there is significant risk treating it could kill us faster.
Like I said before, he should do it.

What side is he playing? Because from everything I’ve seen it’s the LAPD that are trying to subtly murder protestors.

Everyone complaining he’s too centrist forgets centrists have been voting for strongmen. He’s a political beast. SF has its flaws but their DNC was a fucking machine like 1800s Chicago.
