As the title says, we’ve got a lot of reports about this, and we have Rule 7 - Should we take a hardline stance of no OF/SC/links etc? Vote in the comments.

I don’t think it should be allowed in titles, watermarks, comments etc but I don’t see a problem with it being on someone’s profile so long as it’s not in the community. Just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️ Although, I was banned from reddit gw for having redgifs (which some subs require you to post with) and lemmy linked on my profile. Kind of silly since I asked if it was okay and was told I could continue posting, only for them to change their mind a couple days later.

Yeah that’s what I don’t want to happen here, there have been a LOT of reports lately from a few users mentioning Rule 7 being broken for this sub.
I’ve largely ignored them, because I know we’re been quite lenient about that rule in the past.

The rule does say that they shouldn’t be allowed at all, so that’s the reasoning, but I don’t want to suddenly remove a ton of content that is otherwise well-accepted. 👍

There is something to say for you being active here though :) - there are other OF users who don’t engage or comment on Lemmy, which becomes a problem when these “bot users” posts their OF adverts across multiple communities at the same time, and doesn’t do anything else (comment, etc).

Reddit GW banned me as well although and I never ever even considered posting there 😅 never mind having an OF account.

Simply because I had uncovered a catfishing account on a previous post years back by pointing out that they weren’t who they claimed to be and linking the OF account as proof.

Yeah, ban them. I want people to post because they want to, not because they are advertising. Makes the posts more genuine as well.

What if we like to tease though? I didn’t get into OF only because of $, I really enjoy showing off too. But I also have bills, and mouths to feed.

If i just tease a bit, and don’t link to my OF, since it’s in my Bio, especially if posts are tagged as promotional somehow, that’s something between the black and white areas you’ve described, how do you feel about that? Not playing devil’s advocate too much here, trying to just get a better understanding of people’s feelings about this, since it’s relevant to me.

I don’t see a problem with it if it’s in your bio because if I’m really interested in the person, then I would at least click their profile to see their other posts.

Advertising, in my opinion, goes against the spirit of gone wild. I have no problem with OF as a platform, but I’d like to think gone wild is more spontaneous. Just my two cents. If people are that interested, they’ll click into the profile and find plenty an OF link.

Probably ban links in posts/comments, but not on profiles. I think that’s a good in between stance that will keep this comm’s vibe while not driving away literally all the content.

    No.

The best content creators here have OF accounts. They need to eat too. Close them off and this place will slow to a crawl.

    This is a self-defeating move.

If you share quality content here, you should be able to include a link to your OF for those that want more. What I think is not ok is low effort, teaser posts with an OF link. They do not add value to the community. Want to link your OF? Make sure to contribute some OC. No reposts!.

I’m 100% OK with OF creators posting but they should keep the links in their profile. The flood of posts with subscription links are annoying.

    • Right - Profile is something a user affirmatively seeks out. Posts are part of the feed, so post links are more readily defined as spam. But profile links should be fine, and frankly I think it is most compatible with a sex-positive attitude that isn’t morally opposed to these people making money on OF.

Other communities seem to require a tag in the title to disclaim the promotional nature. That and you have no posted verification post requirements, and aren’t seeming to respond to direct inquiries on the matter, in my experience at least. I would like to post here, but as my profile/bio is (hopefully) very clear about the promotional nature of my account, I consider it rude to post without being verified, especially after the recent influx of OF accounts seeming to be managed by the same entity.

Here is what I think would work:

    • require a tag like [OC] or [promo] for accounts like mine where promotion is clearly the intent
    • do not allow promotional links to be directly linked to in post links, within post body texts fields
    • same for comments.

Its easy. If the post is tagged, users will know to see OP’s bio, if they want to pursue external links.

I assume most users here prefer the content thats not promotional, and I know most promotional accounts are just blasting out content to sell stuff. But, some of us at least, do enjoy showing off, even though we are being promotional also, and that group of users, including me, really dont want to run afoul of whatever rules you end up coming up with, so please, be clear about whatever it is you end up going with.

Are people seriously getting mad at women for giving them free content and suggesting you can support them if you like it and want to see more?

This place will die without sex workers.

While I agree that this place is too small to survive without them, for me knowing that every post and interaction on here it’s just an ad to make me pay takes out a lot of the fun

Nobody is asking you to pay or to click on the links. Down vote (if you care so much) or simply move on.

That’s not the point, it still is an ad. Just like the companies that make memes as ads on socials, maybe it’s fun too but you know it has another purpose

The first thing I do anytime a new poster posts OC is check their profile to see what they have there because it affects the nature of the relationship they are looking for here. In my opinion, if you are selling your content in any form then you have not ‘gonewild.’

The spirit of the original sub was to allow a space for exhibitionism. When you allow it to be used as a vector for advertising then it will unfortunately devolve into the low effort posts that we’ve begun to see with a high amount of frequency lately. I don’t think a full ban on advertising will be healthy for the community with as small as it is at the moment, but there need to be some checks put in place at the least.

I agree that all links in post titles, descriptions, and comments should not be allowed, but it should be okay for them to be in a users profile if someone chooses to seek that out. I think there should also be a harder stance taken on low effort engagement baits and OC posts where it’s clear the person themselves are not the one managing the accounts.

It’s generally fine with me if some of our posters are able to sell elsewhere what they share here for free. What I’d ask is that content be presented non-commercially, as if trying to appeal primarily to viewers who aren’t potential customers.

I vote for strict enforcement against advertising in titles, post texts, and unsolicited comments. Allowable in user profile.
