Few people in politics can be trusted. The very nature of the game is telling people what they want to hear. If you want trustworthy politicians, then you need to have voters willing to hear, accept, and prefer the truth - no matter how unpleasant. Only then can true progress be made on a consistent basis.

Of course. Politics is always opportunistic. Few politicians do anything for free. Even someone like Mamdani just realized that its politically profitable to do left wing politics and went for it. That doesnt make him a “bad” person, but he wouldnt do it if the political landscape wasnt ripe for it.
