hej 👋🏼 I’d like to suggest a few books to the book club I’m part of. For the next month the keywords are “spooky, mysterious, suspenseful, dark, scary, ominous, gothic”, and since lately I’m discovering asian literature (mostly korean, chinese and japanese) but I’m not familiar with the forementioned genres, would you give me a few titles, perhaps also with your reasons why? I’d appreciate it a lot! thank you

There’s a collection of short stories by Edogawa Ranpo called Japanese Tales of Mystery and Imagination (1956) that might be up your alley based on the key words. He’s often compared favorably to Edgar Allen Poe and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
