It certainly looks like you’re going in a good direction - it’s hard to really comment without knowing what you’re aiming for stylistically or in terms of detail (or fluidity) - or how far through it you are, and what you intend to focus on next.

Generally though, it’s looking really good.

One thing (for future reference, not in this piece) is that I feel the very coarse canvas texture is spoiling things a bit and taking the focus away from your actual brushwork.

Unless you’re deliberately going for that look, for a smaller scale piece (I think you said this is 20cm x 20cm?) you might be better off working on board, or if you’re sure about using canvas, doing a few more layers of gesso and sanding first, so you’ve got a flatter surface to work on.

It’s not worth really worrying about surface prep and stuff if you’re just learning, testing things and experimenting, but it does look like you’re painting at a high enough level to warrant doing it.

Since you asked, my only real feedback is that the second (left) index finger could use a little shading touch up to make the first knuckle/segment look nicer/more proportional.

Everything else looks pretty good, great colour, contrasts, clear concept, and the “texture” is awesome.

That wing nut isn’t painted on, is it??

The little light triangle underneath right hands index finger makes it look like the hands are around a lightbulb and now I can’t unsee it.

Ok im tired but… I’m imagining you with your hands like that as a model while you’re trying to paint them with the brush in your mouth 😂 sorry I’m going to bed it’s way past time
