You are really, really, really, really not supposed to allow a person like this access to the Presidency (or any position of power at all, ideally) because of how effortlessly destructive they are, and difficult they are to dislodge.
America is deep in the throes of a particularly nasty form of powerful narcissistic abuse on a national scale, and there is no clear or easy way to escape from it at this stage. There is an entire generation of abusers enabled by this system of power, frothing at the mouth to supplant Trump when he is finally gone.
