Honestly a bit weird tbh - they got more than a fair price for him and he’s always thankful for his time there. He literally led them to winning their first trophy in years last season
I don’t see why they would hate him. He didn’t do anything wrong and was clear from the outset that he wouldn’t be signing another contract with them. He helped them to a European trophy and then got them a record transfer fee. Not like he did a Sol Campbell by promising to stay then signing for their arch rivals on a free transfer.
