The address multiple sources have reported they’ve chosen is 9219 Old Manor Rd, 78724. This is an awful location in the northeast Austin ETJ (not even in city limits) a block away from Highway 290 and close to nothing else. I couldn’t fathom working for Paramount in Hollywood and being told you have to work outside Manor, TX now. As a long-time Austinite who loves this city, fuck all these right-wing billionaires who think moving to shitty locations in the far-east Austin Metro area is a solution to any of their problems.

Just wait until the first time a production studio goes dark for a few days from a power outage. Texas is notorious for them.

    Good luck guys.

I know you’re trying to make a joke, but we don’t really have more power outages than anywhere else. There are lengthy outages on record all over the country. The severity of that statewide outage in '21, though, lies squarely on the Republican leadership who have been appointing sycophants to the Public Utility Commission since 1994

I’m not sure I agree this is an awful location if you’re going to make a big studio campus. It’s not in Austin atm but it will be eventually (it’s currently surrounded) and 290/183 are useful veins. You say “outside Manor” like it’s also not ~10 miles from the capitol and downtown. In LA terms that’s basically nothing.

That said, as an eastsider, yeah fuck the billionaires generally and the Ellisons specifically.

    They would move regardless.

They just needed a reason that doesn’t lose them too many customers.
