I feel like our academy is either shit or seriously underperforming.
We have not had a decent academy team since Reiss Nelson’s year, and maybe Balogun’s year to a lesser extent.
Our academy teams can barely compete with others.
I guess our u21s have improved a little in the league this season but I want to see if they can maintain it.
Wild take - we’ve produced Saka, ESR, Eddie and Nelson in our current team… What other team in the top leagues has 4 players who came through the academy in their senior team?
Not to mention a large number of highly thought of prospects… And some decent sales from the academy as well… Balogun, Willock, heck also Bielik a few years ago being a highlight. Sales like that are just as much a success story as players playing for us.
Academy teams winning trophies mean nothing really. It’s nice to see ofc but the success of an academy is producing players and we’ve done that in spades in recent years
