Because he has a great contract and refuses to leave the club for less. Southgate is his biggest fan, and other national players dislike it.
His greatest weaknesses are his speed and agility. If you do things to expose those weaknesses, he will look really bad.

No one holds a gun to Uniteds head to buy these players. It’s their own arrogance that causes them to buy at any cost, usually because they stalled in buying them 6 months previously for a fraction of the cost.
