First I’ll be bringing Yello One Second because I was and still am obsessed with this album. Released in 1987 as one of the early renditions of electronic music the sound they bring for each track is still to this day unique, feeling both modern and retro at the same time.
Playing old PC games at the time my parents didnt want audio files clogging up the space so I had to add my own music to games like Plane Crazy causing this album and that game to be intrinsically linked in my head. My favourite track is Le Secret Farida due to it sounding extremely similar to music in Soul Reaver.
Next I’m bringing Filter - Title Of Record. Released in 1999 this album bleeds 2000s energy. I was obsessed with it as a kid mostly because it was the heaviest thing I had heard at the time. Relistening I find most of the album to be rather samey and enjoyment largely comes from nostalgia but Captain Bligh is still a solid track.
Finally I am bringing Evanescence Fallen cos listening to bring me to life on loop until my parents want to snap the disk in half is mandatory 2000s MTV antics. I’m not sure what about this song and the video made it so magnetic but I would sprint to the TV the second I heard it start playing, eyes glued open until it finished every… single… time.
