“He’s the opposite of what I would want in a captain”

Obviously Manchester United fans recognize Roy Keane as a legend and a former captain from 97’ to 05’ and many believe him to be the best captain in premier league history so his opinion holds a lot of merit. My question is, do you all agree with this statement? If yes, which current Manchester United player would be a more suitable option for the captaincy role?

Wasn’t able to watch the match today. Are these comments about something that happened today, or just generalløytnant about Fernandes’ behaviour?

It’s bonkers that anybody would defend Bruno’s behaviour. I’d be beyond embarrassed if he was my club’s captain, no doubt about it.

He’s been their only decently consistent player through shit seasons so they will defend him to a delusional amount

Bruno is the best United player so I get it. Hes a big baby so I get that too. But who else sew you giving it to honestly. The other players haven’t been there long. And non who have been there long are good choices. Bruno is the best of a bad bunch of choices imo.

Bruno seems too frail to lead MU. Leadership isn’t coming out of condemnation to teammates. Change him and bring us a competent captain like Son.

I think a Captain isn’t just what happens on the pitch

He’s also the example and that individual of the pitch

Though I can’t stand John Terry you could tell he was the epitome of the club, same with Keane, Gerrard and Vieira.

To be Devil’s Advocate I can’t think of one current Captain who embodies that for me. There’s good club captains presently but none who you look at and think ‘at that club there’s no one else I could think of who could be Captain’

But Fernandes doesn’t strike me as a guy who galvanises this team, I can’t believe that if United played Newcastle on a wet freezing night and he slipped on a short sleeved top the rest of the team would follow suit.

I hope they keep him as captain for a long time

McT would be my pick. That dude plays his guts out every single match. May not be the best, but he sure as hell is a Red Devil.

But Bruno is not captain material. He’s always whining, moaning, and making faces like a spoilt twat.

Whether Keane was the greatest captain or not, he has some weird opinions on football. However it obvious Bruno is not a suitable captain.

    100%

He is too petulant to be a captain and when things head south, which they do often nowadays at United, he seems to get worse. Your team needs leadership and there you are being a 14-year old throwing a tantrum in the ref’s face and then sulking. Keane was mouthy as well, but he did note negativity creep in to his game and he sure as shit wasn’t going to stop trying.

One of the biggest issues at Old Trafford is the lack of leadership. Too many players that hang their heads or start acting up when things get tough.

Another criteria of being the captain under Sir Alex was that he has to be ever-present (almost). Bruno fit that criteria, but nothing else.

As a neutral fan he would genuinely be close to the bottom of my list for united captain.
