At least 1 user needs to be subscribed to a magazine in order for it to receive federated updates, so keep that in mind after searching for a new magazine/community. I get subscribed to everything by default (hopefully Mbin will change this behavior in the future), so if it’s not a magazine I want to see in my feed I will unsubscribe. :-)

EDIT: i’ve pushed a code change to Mbin so that the admin user is no longer auto-subscribed to new federated magazine searches. https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin/pull/237

@debounced have you considered having an admin account separate from your daily driver so you can keep your autosubscribes in place, for the good of the horde?

I have, but I’m leaning more towards submitting a code change to Mbin’s default behavior so that any new mags searched make the instigator the default subscriber and they can choose to unsubscribe if they wish.

I don’t see a reason to load down the instance if someone doesn’t think it’s important enough to stay subscribed and I don’t allow logged out users to search for any new federated content as it is, so this “enhancement” can be an extension of that. At least this is where my head is at in how to manage user experience (junk polluting /all) vs. space & horse power requirements.
