From Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre

This beautiful young Southern White-faced Scops Owl had an unfortunate start after falling from its nest into a garden with dogs.

Thankfully, it was found before the dogs could do any harm. Despite every effort, the nest could not be located, and with the area being unsafe, it wasn’t possible to reunite the youngster with its parents.

The little owl was first taken to Wolkberg Vet for a thorough health check before being transferred into our care. Here, it will receive all the care it needs while it grows big, strong, and learns the skills it will need for life in the wild.

Hah, you got it! Most excellent!

I just scrolled the other animal communities and there are many opossums being deimatic today also. They are displaying what some call “alligator mouth.”

I don’t defend Meta, but in the animal rehab business, it’s what we seem stuck with. Our mission is to give maximum support to animals. Any money or any time spent on something other than the animals is resources taken away from our missions. Facebook still has huge reach, which we use to spread awareness of our operations, it’s free for us to use, and is dead simple for non-tech people to use. It brings us in a large amount of donations while costing nothing.

The redeeming part is that here, I take the privacy hit for you all and give you all the posts with all the creepy tracking and manipulative algorithm stripped out! You get to see all the amazing animals, loving human beings, and none of the privacy violations you don’t want.

I’d gotten rather used to it, but I think they recently made some algorithm tweaks. I’m getting a lot more content I’ve already read popping back up and it’s really making me search a lot harder for new stories at a time I’m not physically feeling the best, so it’s been much tougher for me to do my posting here.

My follows are over 200 animal organizations and a dozen or so friends from like 20 years ago when I was using Facebook for its original purpose of talking with friends, but there’s also been an uptick in the amount of political posts I’m getting, which is really annoying. For as much spying on me as I assume they do, they should know I’m not interested in Republican news. 🤨

Scrolling exclusively feeds for a specific and targeted purpose really lets me see the changes they try to push.
