so i need navy blue and sunlu doesnt seem to have it. i have only used sunlu. what do you guys recommend?

@terabyterex poly maker pla is my go to.
The ones I’ve come to really like for their consistent quality results are:
- Prusament (PETG)
- Fiberlogy (ASA) <-- I’m sure i have a navy blue spool from them in my print room. I’d double check, but it’s way past my bed time
- eSun (ABS)
- Addnorth (Various)
Fiberlogy MattFlex has been awesome!
Also thumbs up for Add:North. Been really consistent with both PLA and PETG.
Filamentum is also really nice.
I’ve honestly only had one bad roll ever.
I’ve bought a ton of cheap 3djhor filament with no issues.
I’ve tried at least 20 brands.
I can say my ender was way more finicky than my Bambu is. The Bambu rarely has issues even with filament my ender struggled with.
Also the only filament I have had to be choosey with is silks.
And brand is just one factor. I’ve had good rolls of one color from a brand and not so great of a different color. Same brand.
Basically poor overhangs. But otherwise they all print well. Just some do worse on overhangs.
Maybe fixed by slowing the print speed down but not usually a big deal on whatever I was printing.
What kind of printer do you have ?
For PLA, any brand that has the blue you seek. PLA is not that complicated.
Prusament. Stopped getting anything else, unless I need something super specific that they don’t have
Prusament has been consistently top quality for many years by now, however they are a bit too expensive in my opinion.
They are a bit more pricey, but not by that much, compared to other name brands, tbh. At least if you buy in Europe
They are much pricier compared to other EU based suppliers: comparing basic PLA, from prusa it is 27.5€/kg with the 2kg spool, Dasfilament and Fiberlogy give you about 16€/kg with their big spools.
I like Prusament, I have bought many spools and just yesterday I received my Prusament ASA “signal white”. For PLA, Galaxy black is one of my favorites and I buy it regularly. For the rest, I don’t see why pay so much more when the cheaper option are also good quality and give me perfectly good results and no trouble.
I am currently printing my MMU3 upgrade with Dasfilament PETG and it works great, came perfectly dry out of the bag, no strings, prints perfectly. 21€/kg vs 33€/kg Prusament.
It’s also a massive difference in Canada. With Elegoo, I can get pla for $15 CAD, but prusament is $48 CAD. That’s over triple the price… Thankfully Elegoo filament works great
Before my last printer died 5 years ago, I was getting good results with Hatchbox filament. Not sure about their current state, but they were the most reliable I had found at that time. Looks like they currently have one I would call navy blue.
My new printer is supposed to arrive today, so I’ll be going through the filament evaluation grind again soon.
Never had any issues with Hatchbox, it’s my favorite PLA. I’ll use Overture if I want something cheaper that works. Prusament if I want to spend an arm and a leg for shipping. I usually only order Prusament if I need something else from Prusa.
I love Hatchbox. They have excellent filaments and rich colors. Can’t say enough love of them. particularly like their matte ones. They were really easy to dial in to perfect.
Don’t have a lot of choices here in NZ, esun is a decent quality cheap option we can get in store. Otherwise it’s Bambu which can be variable, some print great and some are a nightmare. Or a limited selection of prusament at a big markup over buying it directly
- Prusament: always top quality, at a price (PLA, PETG and ASA)
- dasfilament.de: I bought a few spools and it has been good so far (PLA and PETG)
Edit: forgot to mention Colorfabb, I used a lot of their Economy PETG, it’s fine in terms of quality, not as good as Prusament. Nowadays the price isn’t that good compared to competition.
I use PolyTerra Army Blue for all my Navy Blue needs. Technically it’s a matte filament but I honestly can’t tell.
Edit: PolyTerra (made by Polymaker) is now called “Panchroma matte” for some terrible reason
I tend to stick Elegoo PLA/PLA+ and that usually works well for me - their dark blue looks fantastic IMO. Overture’s PLA seems to print well too, so did the roll of eSun I got.
Just avoid Creality Ender PLA at all costs. That stuff was awful!
The Elegoo Rapid PETG works great too. There aren’t as many color choices as their PLA though.
Late to the game,but imho best navy blue is black forest Filaments Navy Blue - but of course these are hard to get outside of Europe.
Anything by Spectrum, but especially their Caribbean blue PLA.
