I stumbled upon this trick by accident. I needed a new dentist, I had driven by a sign for a dentist that looked good. But then I searched her name and one of the top results was a website that tells you everyone’s address and political party. Since my state makes public your party registration, it didn’t surprise me too much.
I had assumes that most dentists would be Democrats (or further left) since, you know, their job is based in the fundamental belief of science. Turns out, most dentists in my area are Republican.
I went through 15-20 dentists finding they were Republican before I decided to search for “LGBT friendly dentist near me”. The first result brought up a dentist office with both dentists being Democrats. It is genuinely the best dentist office I’ve been to. There was a clear focus on training, professionalism, and ultimately doing what was right by my teeth.
I’ve been slowly switching my entire care team over to registered democrats only ever since, and I’m liking the care.
Questionable from an individual privacy standpoint, though I do wish more information about the political contributions of specific businesses and their owners were public to more easily boycott fascist-led businesses.
Agreed. However, it was Republicans in my state that voted to make party registration public. I assume that all republican voters want me to know that they are a Republican, because that’s what Republican policy supports. I have no qualms judging people and avoiding them based on what they want me to know.
It would adjust my buying habits.
There’s some businesses in hard right areas that make really fantastic products and I’m always torn on whether I should support them or just get second best. There’s also companies that seem socialist but also get most of their income from US Military.
“We support the troops” and “John 3:16” in website footers are really helpful but the savvy companies don’t put that in.
Kind of makes sense. To be a Republican you have to have some traits, and many of those are bad. Those bad traits would affect all sorts of things.
Doesn’t surprise me about dentistry leaning harder right. I would say it’s more likely to be split by specialty and where they work as far as private practice or public.
Dentists tend to be a little more business minded since most of their work is done at privately owned businesses. The same would probably go for anyone working for a private practice owned by a group of surgeons or something like that.
In my experience people working in public or university hospitals who get a lot of their funding through Medicare or Medicaid understand the need to expand healthcare in the US. I could probably make more money working for a private clinic where I would be eligible for performance bonuses and stuff, but I enjoy providing care to everyone in my community and think it’s a basic humane right.
To be fair though, most businesses benefit from left leaning policy vs. MAGA policy…
Ehh, it kind of depends on your tax bracket. Some businesses might vicariously do slightly better because Democrats tend to have healthier economies. However, that is a small bump compared to the massive tax cuts these business owners and high income earners get from Republicans.
Most local businesses aren’t getting massive cuts. They’re nowhere near the income needed to get benefits. They actually have a harder time competing against monopolistic companies because of Republicans
Not really a problem with the types of businesses we were discussing. All the struggling physicians owned clinics are already gone, what’s left are generally very successful specially clinics. Dentists are also doing very well for themselves as it’s a hard sector for any single company to monopolize. Since most of the cost is being covered by the patients themselves they have more control where they end up getting care.
Physicians and dentists are most definitely in the tax brackets that are getting the most out of the cuts. Small businesses in general got a 20% cut, and then they also got income tax reductions on top of that.
It’s a sad state of affairs and reflection of our rotting society.
When one party is blatantly toxic representing over 1/3 of all the people we engage with, on a national scale.
Locally things are different but we can never trust Greedy Old Pedophiles and the selfish fuxks who either gave them a pass or full on support them.
Our nation is cooked. Time to burn it all down and rebuild.
I wish that was possible here, but we don’t even do party registration to begin with, so back to guessing!
However the lgbt-friendly thing would probably still work.
Yea! I’ve been shocked on the LGBT-friendly working for lots of businesses.
