Even with Tierney, his worst injury was from a hole Celtic’s groundskeepers forgot to address.
Overplay? Who of those four are you suggesting we overplay?
You also left out Zinchenko.
But that’s the point: Arteta would rather have players with the qualities he wants, and as much as possible, than players of middling talkent and low-key regularity. He signed all but one of those, and the one he didn’t sign is gone.
‘Availability is the best ability’ is one of the classic utterances of those with negative ball knowledge. It’s not the best ability; it’s just the only ability they can see. ‘Look, he’s present!’
Arteta would rather sign players like Jesus and Zinchenko and play them every minute he can. He’s willing to accept those tradeoffs.
Now, of course, he would like to have a club where players either A) don’t magically start getting injured as soon as they come here, and ideally B) get healthier when they come here.
