I am fully sighted. Had the weirdest dream that I was a game developer who made a classic roguelike game for braille devices, using letters as sprites so they would show up on those refreshable braile reader things. This doesn’t seem like the craziest idea, but since I am sighted and know literally nothing I need to know what I don’t know.
In my dream, I had a blind friend testing my game, and he had his sci-fi computer monitor that could raise braille dots straight out of the glass LCD screen. I may not know much, but I know that’s not how any of this works. Do any of you have those refreshable braille devices? How many characters can they display? Do they have multiple rows? Also, my imaginary dream friend complained of screen burn on his fingers torwards the end. Is that something that happens with braille? Do your fingers get tired after a while?
Any input into what sort of equipment blind people typically use would be great. I just want to know what is normal. I don’t want to go into this thinking that some tech is common when in reality only a small number of people use it.
well, I use tts instead of braille
