I know a lot of the sub is over talking about Thomas Partey, but let’s be real about the situation. If he is starting or in the squad against Sheffield, then our club has had to lie to the media to cover for a potential criminal with warrants out for him in Spain. Just not a good look for our club. We are supposed to be a classy club.
Mikel constantly obfuscates the ‘truth’ when it comes to potential injuries or players being fit/unfit to start the next game. His integrity has never been questioned before over those half truths but suddenly, with partey’s injury, it’s not a good look? He literally made the Jesus hamstring injury yesterday sound serious and then the player himself came out and said it might be nothing.
I think the context is what matters here. Lying about injuries for a minor advantage in what is just a game is one thing. Lying about injuries to protect a potential criminal is a tad different. One is a game, the other isn’t.
people will cope and say that he recovered.
if the legal reasons on why he wasnt there last night, i would rather the club just didnt say anything than protect him like they did. both are shitty options though, best one would have been to sell to saudi.
If there was a warrant for Partey’s arrest in Spain, he’d have been extradited to Spain months ago
It is up to the Spanish police on whether or not they decide to charge him upon arrival as far as I’m aware. So the club won’t take the risk.
Happy to be corrected if I am wrong as it’s very hard to find credible sources about his situation.
Sounds like the same scenario that Ronaldo was in with USA a couple of years back
But that’s not something they’ll decide on the day of the match. They’ll have decided that there’s a likelihood of his guilt and they’ll issue the club and the British police notice of that decision.
If they were actively seeking to charge him upon his arrival into the country, they would just forgo the waiting and issue the warrant
