You could see how much it meant to him to have the fans singing his name during the post match interview, after all the stick he’s been given. It’s great to see him have a resurgence, and long may it continue.

Rashford gets criticized. De gea got criticized. Bruno does get criticized. It’s the life of a footballer. Equal praise and equal criticisms. The criticisms Maguire has gotten is well and truly deserved. Just because he’s playing well NOW doesn’t erase YEARS of bad performance.

I’ve watched for 4 years now.

Clearly you haven’t watched anything much at all, since Maguire’s performance and confidence issues only started 2 years ago in late 2021 when he was rushed back from injury and had a sequence of horrific games.

At least have the balls to admit that you just don’t like him, you’re doing a terrible job of hiding it.

Being booed and jeered every time you come on the pitch or receive the ball is beyond just general criticism.

Granted he hasn’t received anywhere near the levels of hatred that Beckham got, but the treatment of a man who was England’s best defender at more than one tournament, and quite frankly done well for United in his first season, is outrageous.

I think it’s more than fair for people to give their opinion on who should be in a squad, but once it has been picked, and they step over that white line, you back your players no matter what. That’s what a real football fan does.
