    There are trees I can currently visit that are older than any notion of a country existing here.

    There are trees older than the earliest smattering of a bible

    Depending on whether you count cloned colonies of genetically identical-but-separate entities, some trees are older than written language, and “the age of humans” in general.

    Trees don’t give a fuck, they’ll just keep tree-ing until the environment gets messed up enough to kill them for good. Or humans get drunk and decide to cut it down because you want to be the guy that killed some the oldest thing around…

      Trees are actually going to have a good time with us pumping so much CO2 into the air. They’ll be part of what fixes the Earth once we’re gone.

    Swear there was a post (maybe Threadiverse, maybe not) about the Greenland shark’s longevity, along the same lines here. One [Greenland shark/tree] has been alive for so many generations of humans. Cool to think about.
