VPN Router with a WiFi Mesh

I have a AX55 router with a VPN on it. However, it doesn’t reach all of my house. I want to by a mesh system to extend the WiFi reach. I don’t really know how mesh systems work. From what I’ve read, I have to turn the WiFi off on my router? Is this right and can anyone help recommend a good mesh system?
