Last night I installed Linux mint and it took about two hours. Most of the time was me rebooting my ancient laptop though. On a newer (less worn out) machine I could probably do it notably faster.

When I dual booted Ubuntu about a decade ago it took an afternoon and needed a lot of extra command line stuff to do anything.
