Disclaimer:

I am not experienced at overclocking. I started learning about 4 weeks ago. I am not trying to flex numbers or prove anything. This post is simply a breadcrumb trail I am leaving to help others who may wish to try something similar.

Thoughts:

Its a long story how I ended up here. I’m going to save that for the comment section. All of the settings above are useless for my build except for the drive impedances. That is what made this thing boot past 4600MHz. Booting at 128GB was as simple as slapping the sticks in and letting the system train the ram. Defaulted to 3600MHz and with a slight voltage increase I could get it to 4600MHz but without the drive impedance values NOTHING else works. You must have those. I got the idea from another website (overclock.net), on there was a post from a guy in Tiwan who was pushing 60ns latency on a 7900X (i think that was his CPU) with 128GB of ram. The drive impedance values were the key for him as well. His values were slightly lower for the processor DQ, ODT, and DRAM DQ drive values. I raise mine up a bit because more impedance means less current, less heat, less likely to damage something. I don’t know what the engineers rated this system for concerning those drive impedances so if I can get away with higher values and run stable, I shall do it.

Concerning Stability:

“Ermmm, excuse me. You didn’t stress test this in y-cruncher or memtest5? Wow, kinda cringe bro” To these comments, I am a gamer and nothing more. If it can play my silly games, then it is stable enough for me. Period.

Concerning PBO:

I have a very small understanding on what PBO is exactly or how to use it aside from just turning it on. If anyone here has in-depth knowledge on how to use PBO to SAFELY get some extra performance, I’d love to hear it! Shoot a comment below.

Concerning the results:

Temps look okay, I guess? It idles at 46C-44C and 70C sustained while gaming. Max temp is 89C for this CPU so I think that is close to ideal. Share your thoughts. My read values in my Aida64 screenshot are odd. The guy in Tiwan was pushing 80,000 MB/s on his read. I glanced somewhere that this read value on my end is possibly due to the nature of my CPU. If anyone has some in depth knowledge on the X3D’s read values leave a comment.
