Oh, waiting for the punishment to start.

Authoritarians love to quash protest, and when they can’t they start bringing out the riot gear and batons. CEOs and corporations are by default dictators and dictatorships.

I wouldn’t be surprised at companies trolling social media and firing anyone that might suggest violence in association with their employer.

(They absolutely check social media. My partner and I work for Fortune 500 companies and long ago scrubbed any association with our employers from our accounts. Nonetheless, my other half works for an employee group to help co-workers with job issues, and it never ceases to amaze me how many stories I hear secondhand about people posting stupid stuff online that gets them fired. The company actively looks for this stuff. Probably preaching to the choir here on lemmy, but just in case anyone needs a reminder.)

I am sitting here, in incredible pain from a combined sinus and ear infection, waiting for the antibiotics I need to be shipped to me in 3-5 business days because my insurance will only provide prescription coverage through Express Scripts and not a retail pharmacy.

This same insurance company has also denied to cover a surgery they have prior auth for, denied coverage for routine lab work that is expressly covered, waited months to review disputed charges and gotten them sent to collections, and forced me into a lower tier of coverage twice due to premium increases.

The kicker? I work in the health insurance industry. But I’m not an exec, just a support worker.

They can try to stop the online support all they want, but they should know that the active censorship will only cause people to go elsewhere. This issue is uniting everyone who watches the evening news, and they can’t risk not covering the story because they are hoping to make an example of him.

It’s funny watching basically every news outlet scrambling to try to and explain why Luigi has so much approval online, when the answer’s rather simple:

US Health Insurers go out of their way to fuck over people in their time of need (the old Delay, Deny, Defend), and the executives get rich off of doing this - so the people hate them, and are more than willing to spit on their grave.

You know, they just make clear to us how effective it was. Had they handled it like any other murder, there wouldn’t be a support movement that practically calls for others to do the same.

Even Lemmy is bending over backwards about it, so nobody think that the Fediverse is non-compliant.

Lemmy instances or run by individuals in a crap ton of different jurisdictions. None of these individuals want to go to court for our free speech. If an instance or an admin or running out of a location where they are reachable by legal measures, who are we to say they need to protect us?

Been on Lemm.ee and have only seen posts in support of him and how fucked up healthcare is.

I’ve seen tons of posts in support of Luigi. The ones I see taken down are ones are threats of violence, including vague and ‘joke’ threats.

I think that’s pretty reasonable considering they are following the law of the countries that host it.

I think that’s a totally different problem not solved by shooting replaceable executives

I honestly prefer this to bombings and riots and such. At least its targeted. These problems are not a magical effect coming from the ether. Its decisions by those in power and every replacement is an opportunity for better decisions.

            I don’t want a revolution though

What kind of thinking is that? Ah yes, let’s start a revolution. Revolutions always have great endings. They never lead to dictatorships.

Do you want to stand by while politicians enact laws that hurt your friends and family? Do you want to stand by while corporations take everything from us?

At some point, the common person will take too much and fight back. Will you just stand by?

I know it is, but it’s important that people don’t forget about the hundreds of thousands of people murdered by insurance companies denying claims every year.
