Germany is about to decriminalize Cannabis-Marijuana end of year or early 2024.

Three plants for your own consumption can be grown at home, up to 25 g possession and cannabis social clubs. This law which is still a draft will be revised to be more progressive and less restrictive than the current draft-version made by health minister Karl Lauterbach. Yesterday in parliament the governing coalition also called Ampel or traffic light coalition, reaffirmed their intent to fix the draft to be less restrictive and less bureaucratic. They aim at providing a liberal cannabis law that puts human rights, health and protection of the youth first. The opposition parties cdu and the rightwing afd criticized the project and regurgiated numerous prohibition talking points.

End of year or early next year German citizens can expect to enjoy the occasional Cannabis without fear of persecution.

It is far from perfect, but a big step in the right direction.

Some would say, Danke Merkel Karl.
    Others might say, Bubatz soon.

Lots of stuff you can criticize about the German government, but they are still way better than more of the same would have been.

They are fixing this first draft which mostly reflects Lauterbach’s views. It’s gonna be more progressive, if what has been said in parliament yesterday is to be believed.

        No.

Danke, Merkel was used by rightwingers similarly to thanks Obama and was then double-ironized by ironically using the ironic phrase. Karl Lauterbach just happens to be the current health minister.

Bubatz is a slang term like weed and the phrase Wann Bubatz legal? (When dope legal?) Became a common phrase to express frustration with all the delays.
