    Daaang I didn’t realize there were so many Artemis sympathizers lurking here.

    If SpaceX or Boeing lost heat shield chunks on a NASA contracted vehicle like that then they’d be in paperwork hell and have to pay for another test flight with the updated design.

    Yeah, sure, they aren’t directly comparable, but Orion has been getting a billion a year since Bush was in office, so you’d think they would have a working heat shield by now. They literally did an uncrewed test flight for this kind of thing, EFT-1 in 2014, then changed the heat shield afterward.
