Came across this used Volvo Vectro diesel engine, complete with hoses, filters, and transmission housing. It’s clearly seen some heavy use, with markings like HB5048 still visible. Thought I’d share the find — always fascinating to see these machines up close.

    Someone’s being optimistic putting that on a pine pallet (and not even across the stringers…).

    The scale of heavy machinery can be a real step up from the usual cars etc - trying to work on an old tracked loader at Grandad’s place required a lot more mechanical aid than I’m used to with light machinery.

      Yeah the pallet situation is giving me anxiety just looking at it — those things are dense. Heavy machinery is a whole different world, had the same awakening working on a tracked loader; suddenly your usual 2-tonne jack and a bit of elbow grease doesn’t cut it anymore. You’re thinking engine crane, you’re thinking sleepers, you’re thinking where’s the nearest machinery dealer with a forklift.
