Bit of a sensationalist headline if you read the article. It’s understandable for Ramsdale to be upset about losing his place but he sounds like he’s just going to get on with it.
That said - I can’t see him staying for any longer than this season if he isn’t playing. I was unsure if Raya/Ramsdale would become like a Brighton situation where the keepers are rotated after Arteta’s comments on them after the first Raya match but I think it’s clear now that Raya is first choice atm. So unless something changes - I think Ramsdale will go in the summer
Totally agree. Clearly a solid keeper but feels like he got found out abit last season with a total inability to hold a clean sheet at home became clear.
Think Arteta gave away the actual reason in that same interview when he spoke about subbing keepers mid-game - lost faith in Aaron to keep his focus and organise a defense for a full 90. Maybe Fulham was the final straw for that but Raya needed more time before getting his first start.
I think it’s more so that Raya is just better suited to be the ball playing keeper that Arteta wants. Ramsdale could do it but he tended to go away from it if the team was under pressure or he had some nervy moments.
Case example being Raya having a nervy first half against City but kept doing what was asked of him and ended up being a lot better in the second half while still playing the same way
