A player of mine brought up the idea of having a Megadungeon or other Module that would be easy to run any time people in our tabletop group are bored on any given day, rather than for the typical scheduled sessions we do.
So I come to you r/osr - Recommend me some products that fit some criteria as closely as possible:
-
Lots of Content (Could be played for a decent amount of time)
-
Varied Content (Not just a dark stone dungeon at all times)
-
High Story/Flavor Potential (Factions, Plots, if not a full story)
-
Exploration Potential? (I’ve never done a Hexcrawl for instance.)
-
Easy to Run
-
Preferably for Fantasy
-
Not the Temple of Elemental Evil (Tried it in Whitehack and it was a quite bad experience)
At the moment we’re considering Shadowdark to run this with but I’ve got lots of OSR and OSR adjacent possibilities.
I guess what I’m hoping to find is something that’s more interesting than a turn by turn delve, slogging through levels, and more of a piece of content that kind of snowballs its own intrigue the more you do. If there’s stuff out there that isn’t even subterranean that’d be a bonus.
Might go without saying that I have low experience with this sort of style of play and am transitioning from later edition D&D for the most part.
