I’ve come to the conclusion that Gabriel is our best defender in the box. Looking at the goals we have conceded this season, it is either an outright error, or White and/or Saliba getting lost in the box.
I agree he’s probably our best defender in the box but that might not be the best way to look at it. There could be instances where Gabriel messed up in the box but we were not punished with a goal
There’s also instances of Saliba getting burned upfield when people tend to picture Gabriel in such a scenario more often than not.
Saliba shepherds a lot of danger before it can even get to the box, of course.
Gabriel also has to cover a lot more space when Zinchenko is pushed up.

Yeah, he’s kind of old school in that he has no fear in putting his head where it hurts. That’s what I love about him
