Lemmy modlogs are public. You can look them up. The comment is visible there. They were banned from this community, instance, and lemmy world, I think. Its hard to tell which instance the mod action is from.

Being trans isn’t a mental illness. We’ve existed across every culture and century, long before you had an opinion about it. Lack of empathy, however, actually is clinically recognized as a symptom of certain conditions. But hey, no shame, mental illness shouldn’t be stigmatized either 🤍🩷🩵

standardize documents? not really, and saying that the documents must match the person is just basic expectations of what documents are

It is an overreach of any institution, government or otherwise, to deny the humanity of trans people.
This is NOT overreach it is an attempt at mitigating overreach.
Calm down and read again (always so emotional this topic). The ruling is not about “stop not recognizing trans people as people” but “add a trans gender to your official documents”.
My (federalistic) country doesn’t want to join EU, because we fear losing our sovereignity in the long game. This seems to affirm that.

It doesn’t make sense not to if the purpose of gender marker on identity documents is truly for the purpose of identification. If the person has breasts and wears a dress, but has an M on their document then the field becomes useless.
My preference would be to eliminate the gender/sex field altogether as it has never properly worked for intersex people who sometimes biologically don’t conform. And considering most IDs have pictures these days and how fashion changes over time, like that women in most cultures are now allowed to wear pants, it is outdated anyway without invasive pat downs, strip searches, or x-ray machines to verify genitals. And what use is that really.
