Yeah, well, Year One was a shitty movie.
I don’t think that applies to at least Kosovo, Vietnam (didn’t bring any kind of freedom, oil was discovered later), Germany, Japan.
We found tape recorders in Japan.
Picked up some good scientists in Germany.
Yeah there isn’t any oil in Germany, or much energy to be had at all. Which is why it was hilarious watching them shut down their nuclear program.
