I just don’t “get” Minetest devs decisions to change the name and make themselves more distinct from Minecraft.
That was the appeal in the first place. If you’re not trying to be a Minecraft clone, you’re just another ripoff that doesn’t come close.
MineTest came close, but now they’re going in a different direction? Sounds like a self inflicted death spiral for the project…😳🤦♂️
#Minecraft #Minetest #Games #Gaming #PCgaming #VideoGames
#Minecraft
@BeAware@social.beaware.live The main criticism seems to be that it’s a decade behind change, as search results already seem confused about #Minecraft and #Minetest, and #Luanti will have to fight a big fight to keep the link going anyway (I agree that it was one of the appealing qualities in marketing MT). I opine that it will take quite some time until voxel gamers pick this up: such is my hope with video creators, writers and gamedevs.
It’s only a name change, barely anybody would now say: “Haha, bye Minecraft, you were never a part of Luanti’s legacy.” - because it’s factually wrong, and gamers will keep mentioning how Minecraft-esque the game ended up being. But, at the same time, there is now a stark contrast to Mineclonia and all that jazz…
