As always, feel free to add events I’ve missed in the comments. Links to the event info are helpful and welcome. Feedback about events you’ve attended or plan to attend is also very welcome.
Noteworthy:
This week is the 4th Monday through Saturday and the 5th Sunday of the month. I’ll be adding this heads up each week in case you’re watching for First Saturday, Third Friday type events.
Banned Books Week is Sept 22-28. There are a few related events in the daily things to do.
Sept 23-29 is Dallas Observer Taco Week
Get cheap specialty tacos at 20 restaurants, minimum purchase required. This is a nice lead-in to National Taco Day next Tuesday (of course) Oct 1.
It’s beginning to look a little like Christmas with tickets going on sale for Grapevine’s Christmas Capital of Texas events (Wednesday) September 25 at 10 am. The Chi Omega Christmas Market (which is always the first event in the Dallas holiday season) is this weekend at Market Hall (not at Fair Park as it has been traditionally.)
Dallas Stars fans might be feeling like it’s Christmas morning as hockey season starts up. The Stars have preseason home games on Wednesday (9/25) and Friday (9/27).
On Saturday (9/28) FC Dallas hosts HIspanic Heritage Night at Toyota Stadium.
The State Fair of Texas opens Friday (Sept 27) and runs through Oct 20. The State Fair Classic (Prairie View vs. Grambling football) is Saturday Sept 28.
Traffic Notes: Traffic will be intense near Fair Park and along the routes to it starting Friday and continuing through the run of the fair. This weekend, expect road closures in and around downtown Lewisville for Western Days, and McKinney for McKinney Oktoberfest. I recently saw that traffic is quite heavy for the full run of Pumpkin Nights in Arlington too.
I’m still working on my Halloween list with haunted houses, bar crawls, parties, movies, and more. Hope to have it finished by midweek if not sooner!
Y’all have a great week!
