After reading all the restaurant posts here and realizing we haven’t been out to eat in ages, we decided to go to Truluck’s. Reservation for 8:15.

Service was impeccable. The sesame seared tuna steak was the best my husband has ever had. (He’s obsessed with tuna steaks.)

Parmesan mashed potatoes sounded so good, but were bland.

The lobster bisque blew me away. The lobster is in a large clump in a bowl and they pour the sherry-laced, buttery broth on it at the table. I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a bit of heat, too! The lobster was smoky and delicious.

We got the salt & pepper calamari and it was good and not so good. Good: the calamari rings themselves had a sweet glaze, but they were served with roasted ancho peppers and a spicy aioli and the balance of sweet and heat was really nice. But they were extremely chewy. To the point that more than a few of them were inedible. I told the server I loved the flavor and my husband said they were chewy and the server was pretty horrified by that. We had no intention of asking him to take it off the bill, but he did.

I had the lobster Thermidor and it was a bit of a disappointment-very salty and honestly you don’t get much lobster, even though presumably they put back in all that they take out. It wasn’t bad. Just mid. I wish I had just gotten a cold water lobster.

Husband was driving so he had the Blackberry Bramble mocktail and loved it so much, he wants to make it at home.

I ordered a bottle of Mandois Blanc de Noirs champagne 2017. Sublime. Dry as hell and I loved it.

We didn’t get dessert. Bill was $278.

The restaurant itself was beautiful but pretty loud.

We probably won’t return (too many other restaurants we want to try), but we had a really good time!

Oh! All the menus light up when you open them. We greatly appreciated that.
