Oh my god that episode was so good. Some of the best sound editing I’ve ever heard too (this is coming from someone who’s done sound editing).
Is that odo at the helm?
Sure is. It’s part of a simulation being run where the main character conjures up older Starfleet crewmembers that might help him pass the Kobayashi Meru.
Also, you get to pick your bridge crew? That’s pretty cool. Mine would be
Coms - Lt beckett “the fuck did you just say to me?!” Mariner
Counselor - Cmdr “pass the blunt” Bev Crusher
Tactical - Cptn “what prime directive?” Janeway
Medical - the “please turn me off” EMH
Sciences - Lt of the winter constellations D’vona Tendi
Helm - Cmdr "I wanna be a real boy!“ Data
Chief engineer - Cmdr Trip “that vulcan has a phat ass” Tucker
Ops - Cheif Miles “don’t make me put you in the pattern buffer” O’Brian
First officer - Cmdr Will “Trombone Longy” Riker
Designated whipping post - Ensign Harry Kim
As of the final season of PIC, Bev is also a really good choice for tactical.
Oh for sure, but if I have to have someone who’s entire duty is ships morale, it’s gonna be the bitty who rolls more joints than Willie Nelson.
Interesting. I just started watching new trek after finishing Ds9. Loved lower decks, haven’t seen prodigy.
Hold on let me put on my picky nerd hat. OK, should Odo be part of the Kobayashi Maru since he was never technically a starfleet officer, just a security officer employed by the Bajoran Militia? I could see him at tactical, but helm? OK nerd rant over.
Totally ran those same thoughts. His helm experience is largely runabouts… not too promising.
"Captain, I merged too soon and sideswiped a brid of prey. General Martok is hailing, he requests our NCC ID and insurance info. "
Yep I’d go Kira for helm.
Lucky. All I got was:
Aww… it’s U.S.S. Derpy, the Little Ship that Could!
Worse, it’s the Grissom. The little ship that just can’t even.
Like… how do you even get to engineering? Rely on the transporter? That seems like a very bad plan.
Maybe they’re just very careful never to promote anyone from engineering to the bridge crew…
Judging by the windows, you should be able to fit a turbolift in the pylons. As for whether that’s a good idea…
One time a friend of mine asked if leaving the people behind was an acceptable solution. The TNG-obsessive in the group asked him “wtf is wrong with you?”
It’s in the Klingon-Federation neutral zone in the classic setup, so I think the solution to maintaining relations with the Klingons would be to go a step further and blow it up, then apologize for the Kobayashi Maru’s crew’s dishonorable actions.
I hear there’s a way to reprogram it in order to cheat, but I haven’t figured it out yet.
It’s not a test, it’s a game. Have fun.
