The BBC used a fake crocodile to get closeup shots of Nile crocodiles.
That being said, I don’t think this would work, simply because they aren’t going to move like an alligator, and they are doing this stunt with the intent of getting a reaction out of the animal.
Would this work? Would the alligator realize something is wrong through some sort of alligator uncanny valley? Do we know?
I know birds tend to be dumb as a brick. Many would mistake a rock for an egg, and crocodile/alligator are their brothers from another mother. So…
