I can’t be the only one who thinks that the new Quick Settings just looks so bad. I have a few opinions that I would like to share.
-
- The seperation between the multiple types of settings is very distracting.
-
- The seperation looks too similar to EMUI and iOS. (Samsung is already getting piled on for blatent copy of iOS’s design, and this isn’t helping.)
-
- In all renders I could find, including from the original launch event, the Quick Settings menu appears greyscale, which is one of the features that I really liked having in Android 12 and above, where the theme would change with the wallpaper.
-
- Everything just looks too bubbly. I think even their take on Android 9’s Notification Menu was better, because at least it wasn’t all curvy. I personally think the best approach is Google’s Pixel, the way how the top part looks bubbly, (which is controversal.) but the notifications are also bubbly, if not stacked. What I mean by this is that in between each notification is very little curve, but at the bottom it makes a full curved 90 degree angle.
-
- It just looks cheap.
-
- It’s not very Samsung like to make something look like it came straight out of Apple’s parts in Foxxcom.
-
- It’s going to completly destroy any muscle memory that users have. This will cause an affect on people, when they are used to their WiFi Quick Settings being where they placed it, not on top of everything. It’s been beyond proven too, when Facebook changed their dated look to a more modern site, they lost users because it destroyed their muscle memory and they no longer wanted to relearn it. When Apple changed their Control Centre to say how long until the WiFi turns off, it slowed people down because they had to wait until they could click it again, making the short double tap motion a slow, 1 tap wait one tap motion, and thus destroying their muscle memory. They had a lot of backlash for that one.

- If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. I think this is a very strong vertue, and in the case of most Android Manufacturers, a much needed one. LG stopped making phones because people didn’t know what to expect when they changed the entirety of the phone’s purpose every year.
Well, that was just my two cents, hope I can manage to agree with someone.
