“Hello, fellow comrades on this comradely day. I’ve been getting into this new idea I found, it’s called ‘selectively dehumanizing parts of the world’. If I point it at the imperial core, it becomes totally leftist, right?”
For people like BE who love to cite materialism and material interest as reasons that the imperial core proletariat is incapable of solidarity, they really can’t seem to grasp that this is the expected result of imperialism.
I’m getting quite miffed at this point with people citing that Americans only care about their own interest as if they isn’t the case for every revolution. The Russian revolution didn’t occur because the Bolshevik’s were trying to liberate the colonized world, it was because they were trying to liberate those within the Russian empire. They then used their new state as an anti-colonial force.
The fact that the imperial core denizens are materially inclined to oppose revolution is a valid assertions, but the insinuation that other revolutions were first and foremost internationalist is frankly wrong.
I’m not going to act like I as a Muslim in the west don’t receive imperial plunder much greater then an global south denizen. However it’s getting annoying to see interest “comrades” declare that I deserve to be put in a concentration camp for being born in the imperial core as a result of the cores actions to my family’s homeland.
The US fascist movement doesn’t target white liberals first and foremost, and it never will. It will get the most marginalized, who already barely get by, that fave the brunt of fascist violence.
“You see the guantamalen migrant worker benifets from thr fruits of imperialism, therefore ICE gunning down his whole family brings me joy.”
Fuck off, yeah the guy benifets from roads not being bombed to shit, that’s true, but him making a few dollars a day and living in a slum isn’t exactly a luxurious experience.
I’m not going to say that my struggle to pay for higher education is equal to the poverty that the average Venezuelan faces due to US sanctions. They clearly in every quantifiable measure have a larger burden then I. But that doesn’t change the fact that one disaster could throw my family and I onto the street, and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Why the fuck do I deserve to suffer for something I have no power to change? Should I use my knowledge of Engineering to become a martyr at the local DHS office? Would that actually change fucking anything? The only power I have is organizing with fellow comrades, but let’s not hold any illusion about the speed if such work. We can’t force material conditions to conform to our organizing effort, and if people refuse to listen to us until conditions worsen for the average white person, then there’s only so much progress we can make.
I’m fine with critique of the US left. It needs it desperately. But this wave of supposed “comrades” whose criticism comes down to “why won’t you throw your life away for the cause?” Is just getting on my nerves.
I’ve said it before multiple times on thus forum. I’m not a particularly altruistic person. I’m self interested, and the emancipation of the working class everywhere is something I see as in my long term interest.
Fuck it yeah I want health care, guaranteed employment, and to stop experiencing Islamophobic bullshit from every media outlet. I also recognize that the only way to achieve that in any sustainable manner is through the destruction of imperialism and the decolonization of US settler soceity. That’s why I’m a communist. I want whats best for myself, my family, and my community, and socialism is proven to be the most effective way to achieve that.
They can call me selfish for that all they want but frankly I don’t care.

It’s interesting cause the people who are most likely to come up with the dismissive and/or hateful positions organically are people who themselves live in the imperial core (e.g. self-hating). Reason being that they grew up in the jingoistic, genocidal culture that justifies endless wars. Meanwhile, the people who grow up in cultures that are fighting imperialism, are largely not going to be immersed in the same cultural justifications and glorification of violence, so they’re not as likely to see it in such a hateful way, in spite of the fact they have far more reason to feel that way than the self-hating people do. And in my observation, this matches both theoretical sense and how people from countries that are fighting imperialism tend to talk. That their beef is often explicitly not with the regular people, but with the imperialists in charge. Whether their reasons are more moralistic or strategic, probably some of both, but it makes sense from both standpoints. That their culture would be less of a violent mindset to begin with and they’d see the strategic value in wanting the regular people in the imperial core to be on their side, not to see them as enemies (the regular people seeing them as enemies only makes the fight harder).
Edit: fixing typo
ICE is specifically going for:
- People who oppose US Imperialism
- Immigrants from countries harmed by US Imperialism
- People who are struggling to survive in a country where less than 1% of people own half the wealth
- People who spread “foreign ideas” like Communism
- People who slightly piss off ICE agents themselves.
ICE is entirely run by the ruling classes of the United States, in a system where there is democracy is an illusion of paper-mache. They specifically target the poor people who do exist, often the great numbers of homeless who have to sleep on the filthy streets where people throw their litter, with little but rags against the cold, where they are demonized for the drug addiction that occurs in an attempt to escape their own mind. I read in the news that six of them died in one day because there was a heatwave.
Then there are America’s prisoners, who are basically slaves, and have no rights simply because they broke the law once. The United States government, with help from lots of corporations, also run a massive surveillance state keeping their population frightened and nigh-hopeless. There was even a Cambridge study done that showed donors have more impact on policies than voters do, even if it isn’t in any particular candidate.
The pampered Yankee pigs who support the imperial project run DHS, ICE, and other facilities to terrorize the entire world, and then the US population. So much of the military and surveillance infrastructure is in the US. Altruistically, I oppose the inhumane treatment of peoples in the imperial periphery; selfishly, I believe the United States will turn against me and everyone I love because that is the trajectory of capital.
In fact, US Liberals have been bashed with many anti-Israel protests, and believe that is why they lost the election. Inherently this means that there is a sizable portion of USians that oppose Israel.
How should I go about my business as a Communist in the United States if it is so useless? Should I just move somewhere else and abandon the homeless who cannot leave? Should I just live my life as usual and give up? Should I die in battle? I will have none of these options, rather, I will continue my work. The people who have seen my pamphlets have been much more receptive than not.

I recall this study but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Do you have anymore information attached to it like the name or people who worked on it? I should probably keep a copy with how useful it is.
Sometimes it is hard so detectif it was meant genuine or if it just rage bait
