Linux vs Windows being head to head on performance is crazy. The conversation around desktop Linux is changing, and more and more people are listening!

Thank you to @killyourfm@layer8.space for this great article on Forbes about our performance, to @frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org for being a wonderful platform to enable this, to the Fedora contributors for literally making Fedora Linux, and to the Linux community at large! 🚀

@fedora@fosstodon.org I recently installed Fedora on my gaming desktop, and I’ve been quite blown away at how well everything just works 😎

@fedora@fosstodon.org @killyourfm@layer8.space @frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org nothing sold me more for Linux gaming than watching my Minecraft world load instantly.

Hah yes! Constantly running spyware and bloatshit to gather behavioural data from your users so that you can more credibly sell your prediction models and compete with Google - who would have thought that would slow an operative system down! Well done Microsoft, fuck yourself I’m never touching your ick ever again!

Also, Linux rocks. And the amount of personal investment next to day jobs that goes into making it work. This is what makes the world go around. Not goddamn capitalism and billionare dimwits and their even dimmer police forces.

  • @fedora@fosstodon.org @killyourfm@layer8.space @frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org Awesome article. I’ve seen Linux outperform Windows in Blender and PovRay rendering. It’s still quite behind in video editing, though, e.g. DaVinci Resolve.

What frustrates me the most with Linux is the sad state of NVIDIA drivers. One day they crash at boot. Another day they’re full of glitches. Another day they degrade terminal performance to the point of being unusable. Let’s not talk about Wayland. I’ve had to downgrade to my Intel iGPU as a result.
